For the latest podcast Ali spoke to foreign affairs writer & photographer David Pratt about the film Pictures From Afghanistan, which is showing at the Glasgow Film Festival on 1st March. Directed by Robbie Fraser, the film is based on David’s time spent in that country over a 40-year period.
He talks about that time, how he came to be in country, the complex and often dangerous nature of the job, how it has changed over the years, his other assignments, and why Afghanistan holds a special place in his heart.
All of this and a whole lot more, this is a conversation with someone who has seen and done more than most, and the film is a fascinating insight into a culture and people about which we still know little.
This is the second in a series of podcasts in conjunction with GFF 2020, most of which will be with you during the festival itself (26th February – 8th March) when we’ll be talking to various filmmakers, directors, and others involved with this year’s films and events. We’ll let you know when they are available, but the best way to make sure you don’t miss any would be to subscribe – (see below).
If you are new round these parts there is quite a substantial back-catalogue of podcasts for you to discover. If you aren’t yet a subscriber you can do so, (or simply listen) at iTunes, on Podbean, with Spotify, by RSS (but you’ll need to have an RSS reader to do so) or on MixCloud.
