Musical Youth: The SWH! Podcast Talks To Andy Braidwood…

Updated: May 7, 2021

Please forgive the self-indulgence, but, for our first podcast using Zoom, SWH! caught up with gallery owner and gig-promoter Andy Braidwood to mark his 20 years as the Braemar Gallery‘s head technician, but who just happens to be Ali’s brother as well. The primary reason was to see if this worked as a way to podcast, but also for the two to catch up and talk about the most influential Scottish music of their formative years.

Each pick 10 records released before 1990 which mean something important to them, and then discuss who, what, when, and why. We hope it’s as enjoyable for you to listen to as it clearly was for the brothers to record. If nothing else it proves we can continue with the SWH! podcasts in these peculiar times.

If you are new to the Scots Whay Hae! podcast there is quite a substantial back-catalogue for you to discover. If you aren’t yet a subscriber you can do so, (or simply listen) at iTunes, on Podbean, with Spotify, by RSS (but you’ll need to have an RSS reader to do so) or on MixCloud.

You can also download the podcast by clicking on the relevant link to the right of this post, or, if you want it right here, right now, you can listen on SoundCloud

..or on YouTube for the full Zoom effect:

We will continue to bring you many and varied SWH! podcasts in the coming weeks and months. In the meantime you can always check out our back catalogue of over 140 interviews with various movers and shakers in Scottish culture, including our Scottish Opera series and the Glasgow Film Festival 2020 podcasts.
