The latest podcast sees writer Karen Campbell visiting the Scots Whay Hae! kitchen to talk about her latest novel This Is Where I Am. It’s a great chat, one which touches on the importance of a writing community, why the saying “you can’t judge a book by its cover” holds true, the importance of life experience, and the balance between research and the writer’s own voice.
Ali not only admits that it is the first of Karen’s books which he has read, but proves it by getting one of their names wrong, (professional to the last). To put that right, they are Proof of Life, Shadow play, After The Fire and The Twilight Time and after hearing Karen talk about those as well as her latest they are now on his ever growing ‘must read’ list.
This Is Where I Am (left) is one of the best novels of 2013, (against plenty of strong competition), and it was fascinating to hear how the book came about and how each character took shape.
