Full Steam Ahead: The Launch of Valve…

This Thursday at 6pm in the Sauchiehall St branch of Waterstone’s there is the launch of the Valve Literary Journal. It is a night that promises to fair fiz with energy as there are readings from contributors and the opportunity to get your hands on one of the earliest copies, something which will never lose its appeal. With a foreword by Alan Bissett, an appearance on the night by Louise Welsh, and many other well kent writers in attendance, it appears Valve has already gained the seal of approval from Scotland’s current generation of writers.

You can read all about Valve by going to Valve Journal, and you can read the interview I had with those behind the journal by going to Release the Pressure: A Night Out With Valve & Fri…, but this is a chance to see and hear for yourself some of the next generation of Scottish writers who may well appear on your bookshelves and bedside tables in the near future. Over the top? Well I’ve heard some of the stories, poems and articles which are included and I don’t think so. But surely there’s only one way to find out? Hope to see you there.

If you can’t make it on Thursday you can still buy a copy of Valve from Scots Whay Hae’s Local Shop or at Amazon and then you can make your own mind up. It’s got to be worth a fiver of your money to find out just what all the fuss is all about, as Iain McNabb once sang. Support you’re local literary journal because one day you’ll wake up, desire something new to read, and wish you had. And nobody wants that.
